Wildlife Academy 2022

Wildlife Academies are two day workshops aimed at those wishing to expand their animal knowledge and pursue a future career in zoo keeping and conservation! All Academies will be led by our knowledgeable Education team who will be your guide throughout the day, they will be working with you side by side helping you learn and complete tasks. They will be there to answer any questions you may have.

The maximum numbers on each day will be limited to 10 students, this is so that we can focus on your personal development and give you the best experience. The Academies are split into three age brackets for age appropriate practical and classroom-based learning. The age brackets are as followed:

Wildlife Warriors (Aged 7-10)

Aimed at KS2 learners, this Academy is our youngest age bracket for mini zoo keepers. Packed full of interactive learning and working behind the scenes, it will be two days they will never forget. Get up close and personal with our minibeasts, get stuck in and muck out some of our smaller animal friends and work as a team to make some animal enrichment!

Exotic Explorers (Aged 11-14)

Aimed at KS3 learners, this Academy is for those wishing to gain more practical experience and to learn about the foundations of the zoo industry. It will compromise of both practical workshops and classroom-based learning covering a range of animal science-based topics. Practical experience can vary across multiple species across the zoo, but will include: working as a team to complete challenges such as mucking out, diet preparation, making enrichment and a scientific behavioural observation!

Zoo Training 101 (Aged 15-17)

Aimed at KS4/5 learners, this Academy is for those wishing to pursue a future career in the animal industry. It will act as a careers guide into the conservation sector giving a professional insight into the daily life of a zoo keeper, you will learn about the different pathways into the sector and will be a mix of classroom and practical based learning. Some workshops can include: completing daily husbandry tasks, developing and carrying out a scientific behavioural study, an insight into animal health, enclosure design and a careers workshop. This academy can be used to develop and enhance your CV for future employment opportunities and is ideal for those wishing to pursue animal-based studies and careers in the future! (Recommendations for personal statements can be completed and emailed upon request after completing the workshop)


£150 per student

All bookings made for any Wildlife academy will include a free ticket, this can be used on the day if you have a family member wishing to visit the Wildlife Park, or can be used for a future visit.

Payments must be made in full to secure your place on the Academy. Due to high demand, once payment has been taken refunds cannot be made unless in exceptional circumstances. An alternative date will be provided for you.
